The route
Three to five locations in one session, chosen for the light and the crowds on the day. The two classic routes:
- Oia at sunrise (7–9am) — the blue-domed churches, the windmills and the castle before anyone else is awake. The only time Oia is empty.
- Fira → Firostefani → Imerovigli at golden hour — bell towers, the caldera path, cliff-edge terraces and, if you are up for the walk, Skaros Rock as the sun goes down.
Prefer the water? A catamaran session on the caldera swaps lanes and domes for sails, red cliffs and a swim stop.
Couples, honeymoons and families
Most photo tours are couples on honeymoon or celebrating an anniversary, but the format works just as well for families. Family photoshoots in Santorini run at the same pace — the kids set the tempo and I follow; there is no standing in a line squinting at the sun. What to wear
Santorini's palette is white, blue, terracotta and volcanic black. Soft whites, creams, sand, sage and dusty blues photograph beautifully against it; heavy patterns and neon fight the background.
