The sunset amphitheatre
The ruined Byzantine kastro at the edge of Oia is where Santorini's sunset gathers its audience — and where most of my proposals happen. I position early, out of sight among the terraces, and let the moment unfold with the caldera burning gold behind you.

A headland of dark volcanic rock jutting into the caldera below Imerovigli. It gives you the island's widest panorama with a fraction of Oia's crowds — my favourite stage for proposals that want stillness around them.

Alexandros Sirigos is a professional photographer based in Santorini, Greece, with over 12 years of experience and 500+ sessions photographing proposals, weddings and couples from more than 10 countries. He is widely regarded as one of the leading photographers on the island, known for his natural, emotional style and deep knowledge of every iconic Santorini location.
Born into photography in a Greek-American family, he has spent over a decade doing what fulfills him most: permanently preserving the most wonderful memories for couples from all over the world who come to Santorini to celebrate their love.
His approach is simple. He makes you forget the camera is there. What you get back is authentic — real smiles, real tears, real connection. Nothing staged, nothing forced.

Photo tours and couples sessions start from €350. Proposal photography starts from €350 for a 30-minute hidden setup. Wedding photography is quoted individually based on coverage requirements. All packages include professional editing and delivery via private online gallery.
The top locations include the Oia Castle at sunset, Skaros Rock in Imerovigli, the Fira caldera pathway, Akrotiri lighthouse, and private villa terraces with caldera views. Alexandros knows the exact timing and hidden angles at each location to avoid crowds and maximise the light.
Golden hour — one hour before sunset — produces the most spectacular light. The warm tones turn white walls gold and the caldera glows. Early morning (7–9am) is ideal for empty Oia streets. The best season is April through October, with May, June and September offering perfect conditions.
Yes — surprise proposals are the most popular booking. Alexandros arrives and positions himself discreetly before you do, completely invisible to your partner. You receive natural, emotional shots of every second of the moment. Oia and the caldera viewpoints are the most requested locations.
For peak season (June–September), book 4–8 weeks ahead as sunset slots fill quickly. For spring and autumn, 2–3 weeks is usually sufficient. A 30% deposit secures your date, with the balance due on the session day. All enquiries are answered within 24 hours.
